This job is located halfway between Pixar and Fentons in Oakland CA, near the Rockridge BART station.
We are looking for a Game Programmer with at least one commercially successful shipped title. Ideally the candidate would have experience programming game play systems for mobile games using a commercially available or in house 3D game engine (Unity preferred). Bonus points awarded for experience in the areas of Tools Development, Physics, Shaders, and Audio Programming.
Programmer able to harness the darks arts as required to finish the project. :)
Responsibilities:
- Design, write and own the development and maintenance of the project's code.
- Work with the team (producers, game designers, artists, researchers, QA) to implement gameplay systems and strategies to reconcile game play and product deadlines throughout development. Deliver the best game experience in time and budget constraints.
- Test and refine gameplay features throughout the development cycle of the project.
- Respond to input from player testing to optimize player experience.
- Work with QA and producers, debug, document, and fix bugs.
- Actively participate in the design and production of the game.
Experience:
- Shipped commercially successful titles.
- Experience programming game play systems for a commercially available or in house 3D game engine (Unity preferred).
- Experience in the areas of Tools Development, Physics, Shaders, and Audio Programming.
- Object oriented programming in C++, C#, Objective-C, and/or Java as well as experience in Python. (Programming for this project will be in C#)
Skills:
- Object oriented programming in C++, C#, Objective-C, and/or Java, Python

- 3D Content pipelines (Maya/Max/Photoshop into Game Engine)

Responsibilities
+ Take ownership of the development, maintenance
of the project's code.
+ Collaborate with designers, artists, researchers,
and QA to create the best experience in the time
and budget constraints
+ Work with analytics team to develop and refine
engagement metrics
Required
+ Solid Open GL and iOS SDK and Objective-C experience
developing games on the iPhone or iPad on the App
Store
+ Experience incorporating analytics to collect and
analyze player behavior to refine design and test
engagement models
+ Passion for good UI design and maximizing the fun
factor
+ Familiar with agile development methods
+ Preference for working on small teams
+ Willingness to learn new technology
+ Enthusiasm for incorporating feedback from player
testing to increase engagement
+ Ability to work with product managers to clarify
and prune requirements.
+ Ability to communicate designs and communicate
technical limitations and opportunities to designers
+ Must have a disciplined, methodical, minimalist
approach to creating layered software components
+ Ability to deliver on time working in a fast paced
agile environment
+ Strong initiative to tackle big problems with global
impact
+ Bachelors Degree or higher. Computer Science/Engineering
major is preferable
Bonus points
+ Knowledge of web service technologies and services
(specifically REST APIs)
+ Ruby on Rails experience
+ Experience in developing for Android App Development,
JAVA, HTML, CSS and JS is a big plus
+ Experience developing other mobile applications
(BlackBerry, Palm Pre, Windows Mobile)
